The license key needs to be backwards compatible¶

What is new - 7.0¶

From now on, it is possible to enter a license key of a newer version without having to use the exact product license key. This means that when v8.0 is released and new license keys are supplied, they can be used with a v7.x version of the product. The v7.x code cannot be used in a v8.x or higher version, and the v7.x code cannot be used with older (v6.x) versions.
