This toolbar button is for inserting a [function](../../../explanations/functions/functions.md).
After selecting this menu option, move the mouse cursor to the position in the report where the result of the function has to appear, and keep the mouse button suppressed while giving the function field the appropriate size. After releasing the mouse button, the [Function editor](../../experts/function/function-editor.md) opens, and the function definition can be entered.
Other options for the field can be changed via the [field properties](../../dialogs/field-properties/properties.md) dialog.
