Troubleshooting
If the Default Website or DataFlex web applications fail to show, there might be an underlying problem.
Typical Causes
- The IIS services failed to start.
- The IIS services have been disabled.
- An Application Pool is running in 64-Bit mode.
- Antivirus software / Firewall issues.
- Access rights.
- Other programs running on Port 80.
- IIS installation issues.
Antivirus Software / Firewall Issues
To see if your Antivirus or Firewall solution is blocking the Internet Information Services, please disable them temporarily. If the Default Website starts working, you most likely need to create an exclusion rule for IIS in your firewall or AV solution.
Consult the manual of your AV solution on how to proceed.
Access Rights
For a typical DataFlex Web Application, the IUSR account needs to have the following permissions set in the AppHTML folder:
- Read & execute
- List folder contents
- Read
Note: When coming from IIS 6, the following accounts have changed:
- The
IUSRbuilt-in account replaces theIUSR_account. - The
IIS_IUSRSbuilt-in group replaces theIIS_WPGgroup.
For more information, please consult Understanding Built-In User and Group Accounts in IIS 7.
For more information about 401, 403, 404, or 500 errors you might encounter, please read Common Error Codes and Troubleshooting.
To find out if other programs or services are running on port 80, please read Troubleshooting Port 80.
IIS Installation Issues
IIS installation issues can be tricky to solve. Check the Windows Event Viewer, Application, or System logs for clues. If you suspect an access rights issue, please read Description of Default Permissions and User Rights for IIS 7.0, IIS 7.5, and IIS 8.0..
If IIS seems damaged, it is recommended to reinstall IIS.
