New Subclasses Wizard - New Class Naming Rules

This page allows you to:

  • Determine if the superclasses should be removed from the class palette.
  • Define class naming rules by applying prefixes and suffixes to the new classes.
  • Determine the group names for the new classes.

Superclasses

If you select the “Remove superclasses from class palette” checkbox, the superclasses that the new classes are based on will be removed from the class palette. You will want to select this option if your intention is to always use these new classes in place of the superclasses.

Note that while superclasses are removed from the class palette, they are still available and may be used – they just can’t be selected from the class palette.

Important

If you want your new classes to be used as the default class in the wizards and in the Data Dictionary Object’s Table/Column drag and drop selector, you will want to define these new classes in the Class Preferences page in the Configure Workspace Properties dialog (Tools / Configure Workspace).

Subclass Name Rules

You are allowed to define a new prefix and/or suffix for the new classes. You accomplish this by entering an old suffix/prefix and a new suffix/prefix.

This mechanism provides a flexible way for creating class names. The results of these selections will be presented to you on the next wizard page. You can always return to this page and make more changes, allowing you to experiment with this feature and apply customizations as needed.

Control Palette Organization

The new classes will be placed in the class palette by group name. This section allows you to choose the names for these groups. This provides a mechanism for placing the new classes into existing groups or for placing the new classes into new groups. These choices can be further customized on the next wizard page.
