DataFlex Studio

Most database development should be done using the various tools in the DataFlex Studio.

Table Explorer

A new panel called the Table Explorer is the place you go to do anything that is database related.

Table Editor

The Table Editor, which can be invoked from the Table Explorer, is a view that lets you modify a table’s definition.

Data Dictionary Modeling

Data Dictionaries, the center of your application, are now viewed and maintained directly in the Studio.

Database Builder

While Database Builder can be used to maintain tables, we recommend that you use the Studio to maintain tables during development. We expect that developers will continue to use Database Builder to:

• Maintain tables at installation sites.
• Perform maintenance on the Embedded (DataFlex) Database (e.g., re-index).
• Perform some of the more advanced and esoteric filelist manipulations.
