NormalEnd Property

Description

The ending position (column/row) of the current selection as it appears on screen.

Property Type

Read-only property

Syntax (Visual Basic)

Public Property NormalEnd() As [SyntaxEditTextPosition](XtremeSyntaxEdit~SyntaxEditTextPosition.md)

Remarks

NormalEnd/NormalStart

  • NormalStart is the start of the current selection as it looks on screen from left-to-right, top-to-bottom.
  • NormalEnd is the end of the current selection as it looks on screen from left-to-right, top-to-bottom.

With NormalStart and NormalEnd, the starting position is always less than or equal to the ending position. NormalStart and NormalEnd do not take into consideration which direction the selection was made. These positions will always read from left-to-right, top-to-bottom.

So if the text selection is made from right-to-left, then: - NormalStart = End - NormalEnd = Start

You can set the NormalStart and NormalEnd properties to define the selection (to highlight part of text). If NormalStart == NormalEnd, then the selection is empty.

End/Start

  • End is the "actual" ending position (column/row) of the current selection.
  • Start is the "actual" starting position (column/row) of the current selection.

With Start and End, the ending position can be less than the starting position if the selection was made by selecting text from right to left.

You can set the Start and End properties to define the selection (to highlight part of text). If Start == End, then the selection is empty.
