SetLayout Method

Description

The SetLayout method sets the layout of the docking panes. The SetLayout method sets a state/layout saved by the GetLayout method.

Syntax

    ByVal Layout As DockingPaneLayout _

Parameters

Layout: Reference to a DockingPaneLayout object that contains the new state/layout for the docking panes.

Remarks

The SetLayout method will restore the state/layout of all the docking panes to a previous state/layout stored in a DockingPaneLayout object. The GetLayout method is used to save the state/layout of the docking panes to a DockingPaneLayout object so it can later be restored with the SetLayout method.

Notes

The DockingPaneLayout object holds the same layout information that the SaveState and SaveStateToString methods save.
The main advantage of using the CreateLayout, GetLayout, and SetLayout methods over the SaveState and SaveStateToString methods is speed. It is much faster to save and restore the layout in memory rather than having to serialize to/from a string.
