Return Type

Returns a value from the ChartNumberFormatCategory enumeration that specifies how to format the value.

Remarks

Category is used to tell the chart how to handle the formatting of the value. The category must be specified so the correct formatting is applied to the value. The number value can be handled as:

General (i.e., no special formatting, just like a string)
Number (uses decimal places and thousands separators)
Currency (displays a currency symbol and uses thousands separators and decimal places)
Percentage (displays a percent symbol and decimal places)
Scientific (displays data in scientific notation)

Each category will treat the data value differently. You can also use Currency Symbol, Decimal Places, and Use Thousands Separator to further customize how these properties will be displayed.
