Orders Detail Report

This page is going to show you how to create the Orders Detail web report. Just like the Orders Drill Down report, this is a header/child report. This report will list an order and all line items for that order.

Steps to Create the Orders Detail Report

  1. Click on the Create New button on the Studio’s toolbar.
  2. Click on the Web Object tab of the Create New... dialog.
  3. Double-click the WBO Child Report Wizard icon.

  4. Read the explanations on the first wizard page of what this wizard will do and click Next.

  5. On the Names wizard page, enter OrderDtlReport as the object name, OrderDtlReport as the filename, and Order Detail Report as the description, then click Next.

  6. On the "Main Data Dictionary" wizard page, click on OrderDtl - OrderDtl_DataDictionary to select it as the data dictionary to be used, then click Next.

  7. On the "Header Data Dictionary" wizard page, click on OrderHea - OrderHea_DataDictionary to select it as the data dictionary to be used. This is the Data Dictionary for the "header" table, which will supply the records for the report header. Leave the default index selection, which is 2:Order_Number, Detail_Number, and click Next.

  8. On the "Report Header Fields" wizard page, add the following columns:

  9. OrderHea.Order_Number
  10. OrderHea.Order_Date
  11. Customer.Customer_Number
  12. Customer.Name
  13. Customer.Address
  14. Customer.City
  15. Customer.State
  16. Customer.Zip
  17. Customer.Phone_Number
  18. OrderHea.Terms
  19. OrderHea.Ship_Via
  20. OrderHea.Ordered_By.SalesP.Id
  21. SalesP.Name

Then click Next.

  1. On the "Report Body Fields" wizard page, add the following columns:
  2. Invt.Item_Id
  3. Invt.Description
  4. OrderDtl.Qty_Ordered
  5. OrderDtl.Price
  6. OrderDtl.Extended_Price

Then click Next.

  1. On the "Report Subtotal Fields" wizard page, add the column OrderDtl.Extended_Price, then click Next.

  2. On the "Records per Page / Drill Down Report" wizard page, leave 50 (the default) as the number of records per page. Uncheck the Support drill-down on body records checkbox, since this report represents the child-most records we want to see. Click Next.

  3. On the "Style sheet options" wizard page, simply accept the default Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) and click Next.

  4. Click Finish on the last wizard page.

You should now be back in the Studio, with the outline of the newly created OrderDtlReport.wo and OrderDtlReport.asp pages open in the Code Editor.

Testing the Completed Report

  1. Click on the Run button on the Studio's toolbar. The Studio will compile, then run your project. When the application runs, your browser should display the testcontent.htm page.

  2. Click on the Order Detail Report link. You will see the new report list the first 50 orders.

What really makes this interesting is that this report can now be fully integrated with the Orders Drill Down Report. Go back in the browser to the TestContent.htm page that lists all of the reports. Click on the Orders By Customer link. You will now see the Orders By Customer Report as before.

  1. Now click on any of the hyperlinks in the Order Number column. Click on the hyperlink for order 125, for example. You will see the Order Detail Report for just this order.

  2. Close your browser to return to the Studio.
