List Orders Drill Down Report

This page is going to show you how to create the List Orders Drill Down web report. This report will list all orders broken down by customer and allow the user to "drill down" into the details of each order.

  1. Click on the Create New button on the Studio’s toolbar.
  2. Click on the Web Object tab of the Create New... dialog.
  3. Double-click the WBO Child Report Wizard icon.

  4. Read the explanations on the first wizard page of what this wizard will do and click Next.

  5. On the Names wizard page, enter oOrdersByCustomer as the object name, OrdersByCustomer as the filename, and Orders By Customer as the description, then click Next.

  6. On the "Main Data Dictionary" wizard page, click on OrderHea - OrderHea_DataDictionary to select it as the data dictionary to be used, then click Next.

  7. On the "Header Data Dictionary" wizard page, click on Customer - Customer_DataDictionary to select it as the data dictionary to be used. This is the Data Dictionary for the "header" table, which will supply the records for the report header. Leave the default index selection, which is 2:Customer_Number, Order_Number, and click Next.

Fast Report Indexes

As indicated by the index, index 2 is a fast index for this report because its segments are the primary index of the header table, immediately followed by the primary index of the child table. Since the child table is constrained to the header table in a child report, this index is perfect as it can easily optimize this constraint.

  1. On the "Report Header Fields" wizard page, add columns Customer.Customer_Number and Customer.Name, then click Next.

  2. On the "Report Body Fields" wizard page, add columns OrderHea.Order_Number, OrderHea.Order_Date, SalesP.Id, and OrderHea.Order_Total, then click Next.

  3. On the "Report Subtotal Fields" wizard page, add column OrderHea.Order_Total, then click Next.

  4. On the "Records per Page / Drill Down Report" wizard page, enter 10 as the number of records per page and click Next.

  5. On the "Drill Down" wizard page, select OrderHea.Order_Number from the combo form. Click on the Use existing ASP file for the zoom, entry or report and type OrderDtlReport.asp into the file name form. Click Next.

  6. On the "Style sheet options" wizard page, simply accept the default Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) and click Next.

  7. Click Finish on the last wizard page.

You should now be back in the Studio, with the outline of the newly created OrdersByCustomer.wo and OrdersByCustomer.asp pages open in the Code Editor.

  1. So, let's test our completed report.

Click on the Run button on the Studio's toolbar. The Studio will compile, then run your project. When the application runs, your browser should display the testcontent.htm page.

  1. Click on the Orders By Customer link.

  2. Close your browser to return to the Studio.
