Platform-Sensitive Compiling

Note: This topic pertains to Character Mode (Console) only. Do not use for VDF.

If you develop for (or on) multiple hardware platforms, you may wish to conditionally compile certain environment-specific commands or routines. Two symbols exist to aid you in this task: _DOS_ and _UNIX_. The symbol corresponding to the operating system for which your compiler is designed is defined (in the compiler), while the others are not. For example, if you are compiling with a UNIX version of the compiler, the _UNIX_ symbol would be defined (and the others, not).

Example Usage

The following sample demonstrates usage:

#IFDEF _UNIX_
    showln "Compiled under UNIX"
#ELSE
    #IFDEF _DOS_
        showln "Compiled under DOS 386"
    #ELSE
showln "Not Compiled under DOS 386 or UNIX"
    #ENDIF
#ENDIF
