Launching Compilation from the Command Line
You can launch the compiler from a command line (using Start | Run or from within a command prompt). When launching the compiler from the command line, you must pass the appropriate command line parameters.
dfcomp {Source} {/x} {options{ } . . . }
dfcomp {Source} /x Workspace {options{ } . . . }
dfcomp {Source} /x {options{ } . . . }
dfcomp /k Keyname {options{ } . . . }
Arguments
| Argument | Explanation |
|---|---|
| source | Is the program area or file containing the source code to be compiled. |
| options | Is a string of compiler-option flags. This string may begin with either a space or a /. If options end with a space, the compiler options specified are reset to their default value (overriding those set by the DFComp key value). |
Note:
- When starting the compiler with default settings, the DEFAULTS section in the registry will be used instead of a workspace.
- ‘/’ and ‘ ‘ are interchangeable.
- The order in which parameters are passed does not matter.
- ‘/x’ and ‘/k’ must be written separately from the other options. For example, ‘/v1f /x’ is correct while ‘/v1fx’ is not.
In addition to the traditional compiler executable (DFComp.exe), DataFlex includes a new console compiler (DFCompConsole.exe).
