Change Column Contents
Pressing Alt+M in the datagrid or clicking the option "Replace Column Values" from the record pull-down brings up a dialog in which one can make bulk changes to the data in a table. Only data that is currently accessible via the grid can be altered. Therefore, when the grid shows filtered data, the dialog does not go beyond this.
Column Name
- Drop down with all columns from the table.
- Select the column whose value needs to be changed.
Based on the data type, a group with source and destination values is shown. For strings, wildcards (Matches constraint) can be used, and contains (Contains constraint) can be used. For numeric values, fewer options are available.
Index
- Select an index to use for the operation.
- In case an index is chosen that contains the column to be changed, it is strongly advised to select the option "Use a CLEAR before each FIND instruction" or select a different index.
Status Panel
A status panel can be used to display the progress and, in case of a large amount of data, stop the operation.
- Confirm modify operation at the end: Extra safety by making all changes part of a big transaction and confirming the choice. Note that the confirmation keeps the data locked.
