ShowBalloonTip Method

Description

Displays a balloon tooltip for the system tray icon. Must have Windows ME or later to use this feature.

Parameters

  • Timeout: The timeout value in seconds for a balloon ToolTip. The system enforces minimum and maximum timeout values. Values that are too large are set to the maximum value, and values that are too small default to the minimum value. The system minimum and maximum timeout values are currently set at 10 seconds and 30 seconds, respectively.

  • TipTitle: String containing a title for a balloon ToolTip. This title appears in boldface above the text.

  • TipText: String with the text for a balloon ToolTip. It can have a maximum of 255 characters.

  • TipIcon: Flags that can be set to add an icon to a balloon ToolTip. Any flag from the XTPToolTipIcon enumeration can be used to display an error, warning, or information icon. Set to 0 to display no icon.

Remarks

Displays a balloon tooltip for the system tray icon. Tips can be shown from 10 to 30 seconds and can have a maximum of 255 characters in the message. Tips can become queued when shown before a previous tip has disappeared. The BalloonTipShown event can be used to determine when a tip finally gets displayed.

The BalloonTipClicked, BalloonTipClosed, and BalloonTipShown events are used to tell you when the balloon tip is displayed, clicked, or closed.

You must have Windows ME or later to use this feature.
